Earth from the air

There is a very powerful photo exhibition – Earth from the Air – around Lasipalatsi in Helsinki. 120 photos by Yann Arthus-Bertrand show some of the most beautiful wonders of the world in this great exhibition.

It never seizes to amaze me what extraordinary things there are in the world – and what horrible things we the humans are doing to them. One gets a good view of the vast scale of things in these photos, most taken from a helicopter.

Along with the photos, a big map of the earth is laid on the ground that you can walk on. The exhibition is running until September 18th and is definately worth checking out when in Helsinki. There’s also a shop that sells books, postcards & posters and shows a short “making-of” style film. There is no entrance fee.

One Response to Earth from the air

I saw these photos in London and visited the exhibition several times over. It’s amazing, though the social commentary leaves you feeling a bit flat at the end of it all. I’m glad things like this get to Finland, I was very upset at missing World Press Photo which surprisingly is not listed to tour here…
