I have several ideas what a blog could do to be somewhat useful or at least interesting to some people in the world. I haven’t yet decided what the mode of operation for this blog will be and am thus open to ideas, but some of the thoughts I have are:

  • Personal stuff on a range of subjects – for some strange reason, there are people out there who are actually interested in thoughts and lives of other people even in virtual forms like this. Why that is, I have no idea, but that’s a fact.
  • Commentaries on various world issues, current affairs, state of the planet and most importantly, all the idiots out there who… oops, yes, well, of all the things that provoke a reaction.
  • Virtual community of like-minded people to discuss and debate things of interest. Have a limited participation of interesting people participate in the discussion. The problem here is to find such people, as typically the most interesting people do not have time for things like these or are already running a site of their own.
  • Focused stuff on one subject like technology, management, psychology, cultures.. or something else.
  • Anonymous rants of various kinds. I’ve basically dismissed this idea, as anyone who really wants to find out who someone is online, can. And second, if you can’t say something as yourself, it’s a sign of a sick something. (Person or society or something in between, take your pick.)

.. or a combination of the above. Anyhow, this blog thing is for now a sort of a social experiment and a sounding board for any random thoughts of mine. Now, I know 99% of the blogs never get a single comment in them, so there are no great expectations of this becoming a sounding board where other people comment on things. But writing stuff down has a tendency to clarify some thoughts as such (this is what diaries are based on, I believe) and that’s enough for me. Maybe as an added bonus I can be the laughing stock of someone out there :-)

Defying the odds, I’m starting a second weblog, this time on my own server and without any cheesy mobile post add-ons. I’m a firm believer that 99% of weblogs started in this weblog-craze that’s going on now will never see their 1st anniversary. At least an active birthday at that. Kinda like homepages, everyone’s gotta have one but no one is reading them anyway, to put it bluntly. However, now that I have had a homepage for some 10 years and people still read it, maybe I can pull this one off too..

Maybe.
